No schedule to keep, no minimum play time. If your child skips two days, that is data too — please don't paper over it.
Mind Craft Fish is a young app. It was built for one ten-year-old who found it hard to start things, and it has grown from there — but a single child is a single child. What we do not have yet is a picture of how it holds up across twenty different families, twenty different routines, twenty different ideas of what a hard afternoon looks like.
That is what this is for.
What we are asking
One after the first day, one after the seventh. Around three minutes each. They go to a parent, not to the child.
Everything in the app today is free, for everyone, whether or not you take part. There is nothing to unlock here.
Families who complete both surveys receive a message-in-a-bottle ornament that cannot be bought in the shop.
We do not ask for reviews
To be completely clear: we will never give anything in exchange for a rating or a review. The App Store forbids it and we agree with the rule. The keepsake is for answering the surveys — answer them honestly and critically and you still get it. Blunt feedback is worth more to us than a five-star review from someone who stopped opening the app on day three.
What we actually want to know
- Did your child open it a second time without being asked?
- Which game did they go to first, and which did they never touch?
- Where did they get stuck, bored, or frustrated enough to quit?
- Did anything in the parent dashboard confuse you?
- What did you expect to be there that wasn't?
You do not need to prepare anything or take notes. The surveys ask about what you remember, which is the part that matters anyway.
Practical details
The app itself needs no account. Your child can play everything offline, with no sign-up, and that does not change if you take part.
The keepsake does need a free parent account, because it is delivered through the parent dashboard. If you would rather not create one, you are still very welcome to take part — just say so and we will skip that part.
The app works on iPhone, iPad and Mac. iPad or Mac give the better experience for the coding blocks, handwriting and Light & Shadow, but iPhone is fine and honest feedback about the iPhone experience is genuinely useful to us.
You can stop at any time, without answering anything and without telling us why.
How to apply
Email us and say hello. It helps if you mention roughly how old your child is and which device they would use, but a one-line email is completely fine.
We read every message. If the twenty places are already taken we will say so rather than leaving you waiting.
