Responsible use
Use it well
VoxStage makes synthetic speech, and it can make a voice that sounds like someone. That is useful for storytelling and harmful when it deceives or hurts people. These rules apply to everyone who uses it, whatever licence they use it under.
Obey the laws where you are and respect other people's privacy and
likeness. Do not use VoxStage to make sexual content involving minors, intimate or sexual
material of anyone without their consent, fraudulent impersonation, harassment, extortion,
or anything else unlawful. You are responsible for how you use the models and what you
generate.
Voices and consent
- Clone a voice only from a recording you have the right to use — your own, or one whose speaker has given you explicit permission. VoxStage asks you to confirm this before it accepts a recording, and again when a project package brings one in.
- Do not make a voice of a public figure, a colleague or anyone else to put words in their mouth.
- Never use a generated voice to get past a voice check, a bank's phone line, or any other identity check.
Say that it is synthetic
- Do not pass generated audio off as a real person's recording. When you publish it, say that the voices are synthetic.
- VoxStage marks what it makes as synthetic (
synthetic_audio: truein its records and exports). Do not strip or falsify that marking.
The text is your responsibility
- Voicing a book or script may need the rights holder's permission, even for personal projects you intend to share. VoxStage does not check rights; you do.
- Public-domain works and your own writing are always safe to use.
Never
- Sexual content involving minors, in any form.
- Intimate or sexual material of a real person without their consent.
- Fraud, impersonation, harassment, threats or extortion.
- Anything else that is unlawful where you are or where it will be heard.
Reporting misuse
If you find VoxStage being used against these rules, write to support@houjun.dev. VoxStage runs on people's own computers, so we cannot see or stop what they make, but we take reports seriously and will act where the licence and the law allow.
