Open source, with a commercial option
Copyright © 2026 Houjun Co., Ltd. VoxStage is available under two licences; you choose the one that fits.
GNU AGPL-3.0 — free
The GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0-only). In plain words — this summary does not replace the licence:
- Use, study, change and share VoxStage for any purpose, free of charge — including commercial work such as producing audiobooks with it.
- If you distribute it or a modified version, give the recipients the complete source code under the AGPL-3.0 and keep the notices.
- If people use a modified version over a network — a hosted service, a web app built on it — offer them its complete source code under the AGPL-3.0 too.
- There is no warranty.
The audio and subtitles you make are not covered by the AGPL; your rights in them depend on the text and voices you used.
Commercial licence
If the AGPL-3.0 does not suit you — for example you want to build VoxStage, or part of it, into a closed-source product or service without publishing your source — Houjun Co., Ltd. offers a commercial licence.
Write to support@houjun.dev with the subject “VoxStage commercial licence”: who you are, what you want to build and how it will be offered.
Not covered by either licence
- The models (Qwen3-TTS, Qwen3 and a speech recogniser) are downloaded from their publishers and keep their own licences (Apache-2.0 or MIT at the time of writing).
- Third-party libraries keep their own licences.
- The VoxStage name and logo are not licensed for use as the name of another product or service.
The default voice pack — synthetic voices with no human recording — ships with the code under the same terms.
Contributing
Contributions are welcome under the terms in the repository's CONTRIBUTING.md, which keep both licences possible: you keep your copyright and license your contribution to Houjun Co., Ltd. under the AGPL-3.0 and for relicensing.
