What QuietRepo does
QuietRepo is a connector (an MCP server) for AI apps such as ChatGPT and Claude. When you ask the AI to save or find notes, the AI app sends the note text or search terms to QuietRepo, which writes to or reads from the GitHub repository you connected and returns the result to the AI app.
Content we do not store
Note text, titles, summaries, keywords, search queries and search results are processed only in memory for the duration of a request. They are not written to QuietRepo's databases, logs, caches or queues. Request logging and analytics are turned off on the server. Your notes are stored only in your GitHub repository.
Data we store to keep you signed in
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your GitHub user id and login name; the id and name of the repository you connected and of the GitHub App installation | To act on the repository you chose and no other | Until you disconnect, or 30 days after the last refresh |
| Access and refresh tokens that QuietRepo issues to the AI app, stored only as hashes; the associated details are encrypted with a key derived from the token | To recognise the AI app on later requests | Access tokens 1 hour; refresh tokens up to 30 days |
| The AI app's client registration (its name and redirect address) | Required by the OAuth sign-in standard | Up to 90 days after last use |
QuietRepo does not keep your GitHub sign-in token: it is used once during sign-in to find the repositories you installed the App on, then discarded. Reading and writing use short-lived GitHub App tokens limited to your one repository, held in server memory for at most one hour.
Who else processes your data
- The AI app you use (for example OpenAI for ChatGPT, Anthropic for Claude) processes what you send and what QuietRepo returns, under that provider's own terms.
- GitHub stores your notes in your repository under your GitHub account and GitHub's terms. A private repository is access-controlled, not end-to-end encrypted.
- Cloudflare hosts the QuietRepo server and its sign-in storage.
We do not sell data, use it for advertising, or use your notes to train models.
Your choices
- Disconnect QuietRepo in your AI app, or uninstall the GitHub App, at any time; QuietRepo can then no longer read or write your repository.
- Delete notes from your repository directly or ask the AI to delete them. Deleted files remain in the repository's Git history until you rewrite it.
- To have your sign-in records removed sooner, write to support@houjun.dev.
